child taxation credit

I've read you can increase your income by getting a child taxation credit if you're a single parent? Is this true?

Tax Credits

Hello, Child Tax Credit is available to any parent or guardian that has a low income. The amount you get depends on how many children you are caring for. With child Tax credit you don't need to be working to claim and would possibly qualify for more help being a single parent. If you are in employment you should also see if you qualify for Working Tax Credit which is there to help people with child care costs and again to help subsidize low incomes . The main difference with working tax credit is that you DON'T have to have children to qualify.
To see if you qualify please call the TAX CREDIT HELPLINE on 0845 300 3900
      Hope this helps.
