IVA and Housing Benefit overpayment question

Hello, I was hoping that someone here might be able to answer a question I have regarding an IVA. Would an outstanding debt of £9254.77 (an overpayment of Housing Benefit) owed to the council, but not Council Tax, be included in an IVA? thanks.

Hello,

Benefit overpayments would be classed as an unsecured debt, which could be included in an IVA. If you give us a call here at DAT we will be able to advise whether or not an IVA is the best way forward for you. We would also advise of an ethical company who may be able to provide that solution for you, therefore giving you a lot less to worry about.
