debt advice

my boyfriend has a lot of outstanding debts from previous relationships and careless spending in his late teens. the debts amount to over £30,000. he makes no payments to any of his debts as he cannot afford to pay them off. he is considering declaring himself bankrupt, i am unsure if this is the best option and also how it will affect him. can you advise me of how this would impact his and also our future financially. we live together in rented accomodation, which is rented on my credit. we dont hold any joint loans or accounts. when should you choose declaring yourself bankrupt over an iva

Good Afternoon

If your boyfriend were to declare himself bankrupt, it wouldn’t affect yourself in any way, as you haven’t got any financial links with him. It won’t affect your credit rating either. The best thing for him to do is to call us. There are other options to look at rather than bankruptcy, so by going through your boyfriends details with him we can find the right solution for him. If bankruptcy is the right option to take then we can advise him on what to do next. But there are other options out there to consider before bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is always the last option to look at. Hope this helps.
