at the moment me and my partner owe around £10,000 between us we are so far being on rent and council tax, gas electric ect, we are finding hard to live, as the bank swallows up his wages with charges as soon as we get them, we have made the steps to get the bankruptcy form and opening a new bank account on wed, we havent paid are creditors in months, and its becoming so stressfull i dont work and my partner earns around £1,100 a month, we have tried debt managment but been told we can't afford it as we come out with a deficit each month, but we cant afford the court charges for the both of us as we have to pay twice, ive tried getting his debt changed into my name but there not having it, but then again didnt hold up much hope, how can we afford the cost of bankrutcy?

Hello

Is this the only income you get into the household? Is there any tax credits etc? You also mentioned being behind on living costs and utility bills, again are you receiving any help with this e.g. Housing benefits etc.
The reason I'm asking is because you mentioned your partner is the only one with an income coming in to the household and I want to get a full understanding on the situation. If you are sure that a bankruptcy is the only way forward for you then I would suggest trying to make an appointment with a Bankruptcy clerk at your local county court. They maybe able to suggest a payment method for you.
If you do want to check bankruptcy is the best solution for you then give DAT a call and speak to one of their advisors. Hope this helps.
