Pensioners in Debt

I am aware of an elderly couple who have credit card debts that they are having trouble paying. I would like to be able to help them in some way but do not have the money to pay off their debts. Is there a way that I can contact the credit card companies - or get them to do this, so that the interest can be stopped on the cards? Alternatively, can we offer to pay them a reduced settlement fee to pay the debts off? The couple own their own home and I would not want them to have to sell up to pay off these debts. What is the best way to handle this without putting their property at risk? I am unsure of the amount they owe, but would like to understand what can be done for them before discussing this with them in depth. I do not want to raise their hopes of clearing / reducing these debts without getting my facts right first.

Pensioners

Hi, Have you considered Equity Release? this would allow them to sell part of the equity, stay in their own home and have no additional monthly payments. It may not suit, but worth looking into. I do know of a good company Chartwell Equity Release - 01604 821751. might be worth checking out. Good Luck ColinB
