If your bank offers you a 'completely free' credit card - be careful. I had to get a new bank after moving to the UK and was told I could have a credit card along with my debit card - no questions asked! This is a bank that handed me a credit card without checking my credit history and before I had even asked for one. I didn't use it for the first month then discovered when the statement came in that the interest would be over 29% should I use it! I quickly cancelled the card and let me assure you - it was an awful lot harder to cancel the card than it was to receive it in the first place. This bank that handed me over a card insuring me it was 'free from all charges' and neglected to tell me the interest was considerably higher than most cards, still sends me offers for credit cards despite the fact they have never run a credit check. Be careful with Banks that just want to get you in to debt!
