My Mum Is in so much debt, that im beginning to lose sleep about it. She doesnt read or write english, and has a small job at our local school as a playground supervisor, and i think she has a debt of 20,000 pounds. Letters have been coming to our house, and she just reads and throws them away. Most of the letters are demanding money off her NOW, one letter demanded that she pay 3500 in less than four days!! I don't know what to do. Ive tried explaining that she seek help to get rid of the debts, and she doesnt. She doesnt even seem to want to. I asked my auntie to talk to her, telling her my fear that my mother might go to jail cos of money that she cant pay bak, but my aunt sez the most she will get is ccjs and bailliffs. i dnt even want bailiffs to come to my house, but my mum says that they cant do anything cos evrything in the house belongs to my father. I just want her to get out debt asap, i work part time and i give my father rent evry month, but i secretely give my mother the same amount in hope that it helps pay the bills...but i know she just spends it. My dad doesnt know half of the debts my mum owes, and he cant help her significantly cos hes nearly 60 and only works part time, because we have paid off our mortgage. Ive talked to the companies that are demanding money, asking them could they discuss it with me, but they refuse to unless my mother gives them authorisation, which she refuses as well. I dnt know what to do...im scared of her going to jail, im scared of our belongings being repossesed, im scared of bailiffs cumin to our house, ive offered help and advice and she doesnt want to know, ive even given her money to help atleast try and keep them off her back, but she spends it when she goes out...what can i do? what will happen to her if she doesnt pay the debt, shes 46 years old and her youngest child is 8years old, she is going to be a grandmother in a few days, and i cnt help but worry that she will go to jail...I really need some help, or some reassurence that this will all end one day or another...
