I have a credit card that I hardly use because the interest rate is quite high. I used it a bit over christmas and got a phone call from the bank asking if I wanted to set up direct debit for the minimum payment. I said yes because I thought it might make life easier.

Last month my statement came in with late fees and charges and a couple days later they called me. They said my payment declined. After several phone calls it turns out that the wrong account details were recorded for the direct debit - but the bank wont take off the charges.

Now I don't know if it was their error or mine but does anyone know how i can get the charges back? also, does anyone know if this will hurt my credit rating?
