Saving Money In The January Sales

Hi There,

After coming out of my worst financial situation (debt with store cards and credit cards)....I have found out how important it is to actually save money for a rainy day and how to shop smart.

I had the "if I like it, I will be it regardless" type of attitude which eventually saw me lose control of my finances. I was not even worried about how easy it was to obtain credit from different finance companies. When ever I got the credit card..I was off again to the sales!

This January there will be alot on offer from different high street stores and I know most of you..including I will get the desperate urge to spend alot of money on clothing and other household items.

My advice is for shoppers who plan on enjoying next years sales.....make sure you know how much you are going to spend or draw up a strict budget of how much your limit is...this way you will save yourself alot of hassle and pain which I suffered in the hands on debt!

Great forum by the way :-)

Hello Jasmine,

Great advice there, budgeting and setting limits on what you can afford to spend and not going over that amount is the best way to stay in control of your finances. Why not put money aside for a few months so you can go on that big shopping spree, if you have the money saved you would be less likely to apply for store credit and get yourselves into debt.

thanks for the advice, this

thanks for the advice, this is something I need to show my wife...she is a mad shopaholic and she has already been going mad in the sales I know she is sensible when its coming to budgeting and spending money...but I still think she needs to slow down!
