each weekend my wife and I do our fruit and vege shopping from the fresh produce markets. The food is usually cheaper than supermarkets, and as the stall holders now know our face, they always throw in a few extras. It also means that instead of buying a whole sealed bag of fruit/vege like you quite often have to do at the supermarket, you can buy exactly how much you need and won't end up throwing out loads in the bin each week.

the produce is always so much fresher than in the shops, and more likely to have come from local sources, rather than imported. Give it a go!
