i am very lucky to one extent that my parents are divorced and one lives in scotland and one lives in somerset so i always have two places i can stay at and use as base camps if i want a cheap holiday

The idea of staying with both parents is very good for saving money when you travel. It is nice that you have two places to go and stay.
It is always cheaper when traveling to stay with someone
It is always cheaper when traveling to stay with someone you know. It can free up your money to do and buy other things that are more important. Also try using other ways of transportation other then your own car when traveling. There are cheaper ways to get where you need to go. This can save money too.
