I got several replies from people willing to sell me their books for a couple pounds. It didn't take much effort and she was so excited to get them! Because she knows how hard it is to get hold of them (without paying a fortune in getting hem sent over) she didn't mind at all that they were second hand. Second hand books have a lot of character so it could be an idea that works for others too.
