Debt questions
If you are in serious debt then you will no doubt have many debt questions that need to be answered and will certainly want to know about the many debt management solutions available to you. The Debt Advice Trust is a free national helpline that offers impartial expert advice to those who are looking for ways to reduce their debt and become debt free. There are many debt solutions available and finding the right one for you is the first step towards debt recovery.
The most common debt questions that we receive are regarding Individual Voluntary Agreements, or IVAs. IVAs have been created by the government as a method of debt management that avoids the more drastic method of becoming insolvent, or going bankrupt. As a debt solution IVAs are an effective method of reducing the amount that you owe and provide a detailed repayment scheme over a fixed period of time.
IVAs are a debt management solution whereby you negotiate with your creditor to pay an agreed amount. Usually this amount is significantly less that your current debt amount; for example, you may pay back 70% of what you owe. IVAs usually have a 60-month repayment schedule and the monthly repayments are often less than your current repayments. Because of this IVAs are an ideal debt solution for people with serious debt problems. If you have any debt questions regarding IVAs, or any other debt management solution, then why not call one of the Debt Advice Trust’s qualified counsellors for support and answers.
