The implications of a County Court Judgement

County Court Judgements are not to be taken lightly. Any your County Court Judgement against you will be recorded on the Register of County Court Judgements for six years. This Register is used by banks, building societies and loan companies to help them decide whether to give you a mortgage, loan or other credit.

  • Q: Can’t I challenge a County Court Claim?

    A: Yes of course. But if you do owe money then the County Court Judgement may still go against you. Don’t let things go so far when one call to the Debt Advice Trust could get you expert advice on better ways of solving your debt problems.

  • Q: What if I have no means of meeting my current debt repayments and am therefore vulnerable to a County Court Claim?

    A: Don’t despair, an IVA or another debt solution could still be appropriate. The key is to reach an agreement with your creditors so - talk to the Debt Advice Trust to find out more.
